Dear Members and Friends of St. Paul’s,
As I write this, we are still in the middle of summer. But August is a time of preparation for another school year, another program year, or just getting ready for the fall. Our Social Ministry team is in the midst of two collections for children in need: socks and underwear, and school supplies. As kids are preparing to go back to school, it is important that they have everything they need to succeed! I have regularly been astounded at St. Paul’s generosity in collecting items to support our community, and I’m sure this year will be the same. Thank you to everyone who has donated to these collections and everyone who prays for St. Paul’s ministries and our outreach to the community.
August is also a time when St. Paul’s is gearing up for ministries to begin again in the fall. Music, Sunday School, Bible Studies, Youth Group, and other programs will be starting up again in September, and we’d love for you to participate! Maybe you’ve always wanted to try ringing handbells or singing in the choir. Maybe you’d enjoy participating in a Bible Study. Maybe you can help with Sunday School or Youth Group or have family members who would like to participate. Throughout August and early September look for opportunities to be listed in the FYI and Chimes.
It’s a great time to start something new. And even if you don’t want to make a weekly commitment, maybe it’s time to think about serving as a worship assistant. We have various roles during worship as well as altar guild for those who prefer the behind-the-scenes work. There are also committees that could use your help for one-time projects or on an ongoing basis.
As the mowing season continues, I am regularly grateful for all those that take care of our church grounds. We have a large team of mowers, as well as people who make sure our gas and oil supply are ready to go, and people who keep the equipment working. We are always in need of people who like to pull weeds and tend gardens, especially in our memorial garden. If you want to know more, reach out to me or one of our Property Team members.
As time passes, our long-time volunteers need new faces to share the workload. Projects that have “always” been done by a certain individual or group may need more attention than before. If you’ve ever been interested in getting involved, I’m sure there’s a spot for you.
If you don’t know who to ask about something, I am always more than happy to point you in the right direction. Rosanne, our Office Manager, is also a great resource. Sometimes she knows more than I do!!
As summer wraps up and we prepare for the fall, I hope that you will consider finding new ways to get involved at St. Paul’s. I am always thankful for your presence and participation.
